According to American journal or Roentgenology, CT scan is a highly accurate and commonly available imaging technique of emergency doctors for the diagnosis of pulmonary embolism (PE). Pulmonary embolism is a life threatening condition in which blood clot is formed in the lung, and requires early diagnosis and treatment.CT, MRI and lung scintigraphy are currently available imaging for diagnosed PE. According to this journal around 96 % doctors chose CT as a first line investigation for PE because it is easily interpreted and more specific.
