    Might be this way:

Diabetes >>> Hyperglycemia >>>More Glucose in tissues and body secretion>>> Excellent environment for bacterial growth esp. pyogenic

Diabetes>>>>Hyperglycemia>>>Decreased cellular immune function ( Due to Impaired polymorphonuclear leukocyte function, chemotaxis, and phagocytosis) >>> Decrease ability to fight against infection.

    Thankx

    I agreed with deepak….

Different research demonstrated several defects in host immune defense mechanisms in diabetic subjects. Phagocytic capabilities of polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMN) are adversely affected by hyperglycemia in rats models. Several PMN defects occur in diabetes subjects, including impaired migration phagocytosis, intracellular killing, and chemotaxis which may be due to decrease PMN membrane fluidity. Generalized immunologic defects such as these raise the suspicion that diabetes patients may be at an overall increase risk for infection.
Besides these other factor like microvascular dysfunction may result in compromised local circulation leading to delay response to infection.

Thanx Hari, this is a common topic but comprises a wide range of study and still unsolved but some studies have demonstrated that,in hyperglycemia there is a impairment of host defenses, including decreased polymorphonuclear leukocyte mobilization, cell-mediated immunity, chemotaxis, and phagocytic activity as well as diminished vascularization.
hyperglycemia also aids the colonization and growth of a variety of organism,as we know that bacteria uses glucose for their proliferation or it enhance suitable environment for bacterial growth as Deepak dai said.
